Welcome to Cross Country Ski Heaven
The Colorado low that blew through on Sunday and Monday was fairly wimpy, dumping only 3 to 4 inches of snow on top of a base of about 10 inches. Besides quantity, the quality of the snow is important too. Wet snow and cold temperatures make the best tracks that will freeze quickly and stand up longer. These conditions make for superlative tracking.
After the wind died down on Tuesday afternoon, the groomer went out and tracked most of the trails outside the Victoria Beach Golf Course until darkness compelled him to stop.
Wednesday morning was crisp and cold, ideal for setting a freestyle course that skirted fairways on holes 7, 8, and 9 of the VB Golf Course. The tracksetter was also raised to create a half km long freestyle course on the Firebreak, where some brushing debris was exposed.
The conditions for skiing at Victoria Beach (and the extended area into East Beaches) are pristine right now - they can't get any better. Take advantage while you can!
Much of the trail system is groomed and tracked regularly by volunteers. There is a cost associated with grooming to maintain and run the grooming equipment. Please consider contributing to these costs by providing a cash gift to ensure grooming can continue.
